Oakmoss absolute adds a sensual element with an aroma found in no other perfumery ingredient as well as being an excellent fixative. It has been used since the middle ages in pastilles for burning to now being found in well known chypre perfumes like Mitsouko.

Grown across Europe and Africa, oakmoss is a tight curled lichen plant grown on oak trees its color ranging from green to black. After being separated from the bark of the tree, the moss is dried, pressed and then processed for solvent extraction. Belonging to the chypre family, as a based noted it blends beautifully with floral, green as well as oriental accords.

Oakmoss absolute needs to be heated separately as a way of Bain Marie before mixing with the carrier oil or ethnol
