Mastic essential oil is derived from the resin of the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus), is a fragrant and unique oil with a rich history and diverse applications. Found primarily in the Mediterranean region, particularly on the Greek island of Chios, mastic has been valued since ancient times.

The extraction process begins with the careful harvesting of mastic resin. This is done by making incisions in the bark of the mastic tree, allowing the resin to ooze out. The resin is collected as it hardens into droplets, usually between late spring and early summer when the tree is most productive.

The initial impression of mastic essential oil is fresh, terpenic and slightly sweet, with a hint of pine.
